Frank Sinatra breaks chart record with new posthumous release

The late Frank Sinatra has returned to the top of a Billboard chart for the first time in 58 years, making history in the process.

The legendary crooner has topped Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart on the new Pentanox single, ‘I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm’, from their album Christmas in the City.

According to Billboard and the data collected by Luminate, the reimagined version of Sinatra’s 1961 classic jumped four spots over the past week to first place.

This release represents Sinatra’s seventh Adult Contemporary number one, and the first since 1967. The gap of 58 years, two months and two weeks is a new record. The previous record was held by Elton John, who went 23 years, 11 months and one week between 1998’s ‘Something About the Way You Look Tonight’ and his Ed Sheeran collaboration ‘Merry Christmas’, released in 2022.

Sinatra’s first number one was ‘It Was a Very Good Year’ in 1966, and astonishingly, in 1967, he released five chart-topping hits in a row. These were ‘Somethin’ Stupid’ with his daughter Nancy Sinatra, ‘That’s Life’, ‘Summer Wind’, ‘Strangers in the Night’ and ‘The World We Knew (Over and Over)’.

Pentatonix are a Grammy-winning a cappella group who have had Christmas hits previously, such as ‘Carol of the Bells’ and a haunting rendition of ‘Mary, Did You Know?’.

In an interview with Billboard, Pentatonix’s Kirstin Maldonado said their new album Christmas in the City: “has been the biggest labor of love…We’re all just really proud of it.”

“They blessed us with his voice,” Maldonado said about the Frank Sinatra Estate, who agreed to let Pentatonix use a previously unreleased vocal take of Sinatra singing the classic tracl. “This arrangement is perfectly what we wanted to achieve within this album too… I feel so proud of it. I love it so much.”

Pentatonix are currently touring to promote their new album, wrapping up in Texas on December 22nd. In 2026, they are planning to start their UK and European tour on April 7th.
