Former MTV host Matt Pinfield suffers major stroke
Matt Pinfield, the former host of MTV‘s 120 Minutes, has suffered a major stroke, court documents reveal.
According to TMZ, Pinfield’s daughter, Jessica, has “filed for a temporary conservatorship over her father” following his stroke.
The publication, which has obtained the legal documents, says that Jessica stated that Pinfield suffered a stroke three weeks ago, and is no longer equipped to make “health and financial decisions”. Jessica also allegedly expressed fears that Pinfield’s girlfriend, who has access to his bank accounts, will use his financial resources.
The legal filing by Jessica comes weeks after Pinfield’s current place of occupation, Los Angeles radio station KCSN, informed listeners earlier this month that he would be absent for the foreseeable future.
KCSN explained: “The SoCal Sound’s legendary DJ Matt Pinfield will be taking a temporary leave of absence. We are fully supportive of Matt and hope to have his energetic knowledge of rock n’ roll back on the air soon.”
Currently, Pinfield also hosts a regular weekly show on KLOS in Los Angeles in addition to his work on KCSN. Furthermore, Pinfield is a co-host of The Power Hour, which is shown on AXS TV.
In the 1990s, Pinfield became a leading voice in alternative music thanks to hosting 120 Minutes on MTV between 1995 and 1999. He returned for the reboot of 120 Minutes in 2011 on MTV2, however, it only lasted until 2013.
According to Jessica, Pinfield suffered the stroke on January 6th. Earlier that day, he shared on Instagram, “Starting another week with gratitude for a life surrounded by great people, life changing music, and unforgettable experiences that I never take for granted. Here to another week-another day-open heart and open mind. Let’s rock!”
