Former Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds slams “disgusting” bandmates in new rant

Brent Hinds has slammed his former Mastodon bandmates in another social media post, branding the rock group “disgusting”.

The guitarist’s exit from the heavy metal band was announced back in March. At the time, Mastodon insisted the split was amicable, writing: “We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared.”

However, this illusion of peace was soon shattered through a series of social media posts Hinds has made, hitting out at his ex-bandmates. His latest rant came under a video a fan posted of the band’s 2012 song ‘Crack the Skye’, taken from the album of the same name.

He commented: “My guitar sounds great, but Troy (Sanders) and prawn (Brann Dailor) sound absolutely horrible. They are way out of key… embarrassing, and they kicked me out of the band for embarrassing them for being who I am… but what about who they are?”

He also claimed “everything they try to sing in the studio is manipulated by autotune because they’re incapable of singing in key”. Hinds then added: “I’ve never seen anyone in my life look in the mirror more than Troy Sanders. He thinks he’s God’s gift to anything. I’ve never met three people that were so full of themselves. It’s disgusting.”

It comes as Hinds also previously called Mastodon “horrible humans” in a “shit band” last month, following his dismissal after having played with the group for the past 25 years since their inception in 2000.

The remaining members of Mastodon are currently at the height of a UK and European summer tour, having played Bloodstock festival in Derbyshire on August 10th, before moving on to Carlswerk Victoria in Cologne on August 12th.

They also played at the final Black Sabbath show, Back to the Beginning, on July 5th, paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away weeks after the gig, by saying: “Thank you so much for all the music, all the mayhem, all of the endless inspiration.”
