Foo Fighters confirm Australia and New Zealand stadium tour
Foo Fighters have confirmed plans to visit New Zealand and Australia for a nine-stop stadium tour.
The new tour, billed the Take Cover tour, will begin on November 5th at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, and stop in Townsville, Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, and Adelaide. In the New Year, the band will then hit up Christchurch and Auckland, before wrapping up on January 25th in Perth.
On the support act front, the band is keeping things interesting with 16 hand-picked on-the-rise groups. In order of appearance, these include: Full Flower Moon Band, Mini SKirt, DOWNGIRL, The Belair Lip Bombs, TEENS, The Buoys, C.O.F.F.I.N, FRENZEE, Kurralta Park, Spooky Eyes, DARTZ, SEEK HELP!, Dick Move, Ringlets, The Southern River Band, and Last Quokka.
The band has visited Australia 15 times since their debut trip, when they played Summersault Festival way back in 1995.
Fans had guessed that a tour was in the works: last month, the ‘The Sky Is A Neighbourhood’ musician played their first Tasmanian date since 2015, where vocalist Dave Grohl teased: “We’ll be back sooner than you think.”
Grohl also told the crowd at the huge gig: “We might have a whole new record of fucking songs that we just finished the other day.”
True to his word, on February 13th, Foo Fighters’ fans spotted curious movement on their website; an interactive included posters, stacks of CDs, clothes, instruments, and more. Hidden in 11 places were different teaser snippets of unreleased songs.
Foo Fighters have not released a full studio record since 2023’s But Here We Are. Far Out gave this record four stars, observing, “While it’s hard to call But Here We Are a classic Foo Fighters record, it’s definitely a record that should garner respect later as the band comb through their back pages to celebrate their own story of survival.”
