Foals get their first number 1 with ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part 2’
Having been a pivotal part of the alternative music scene for the last decade it’s hard to think that Foals haven’t yet hit the chart heights of number 1 spot with a full-length record. Well, now they have, with their impeccable new album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part 2.
The band announced the news via their Instagram page today. It’s been well overdue. Having started their run of explorative LPs with their 2008 Antidotes Foals have gathered pace towards stadium-sized-stardom with every new release. The new LP Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part 2 marks yet another advance for the band
Topping the charts is always a notable occasion for any band and frontman Yannis Philippakis reaffirm said: “Hey everyone thanks so much for buying the record this week, we finally got our number 1 this week – long awaited, long deserved!” he smirked.
He continued “Thanks so much for all the support over the years and we hope you love the record as much as we do.”
Yannis told NME last month,“From a musical perspective, ‘Part 2’ is fully-charged – certainly the first half, which is probably the most energetic and relentless set of songs in a row that we’ve ever done.
“The relationship is that ‘Part 1’ was more textural and dance-y,” he continued “whereas ‘Part 2’ is on the run. There’s a twitchiness and a paranoia. It’s about trying to pick yourself up and dust yourself off after the wreckage of ‘Part 1’.”
