Florence and the Machine unveil new logo ahead of anticipated return
Florence and the Machine continue to tease their comeback after the group updated their website to share a new logo ahead of anticipated return.
It comes after an unsettling video was posted to social media on August 11th to announce that new music was on the horizon, depicting frontwoman Florence Welch frantically digging a hole in the ground, before sticking her head inside it and screaming.
At the time, no further details were unveiled, apart from the band’s website updating to show a gold moon symbol with the message “Something’s coming.”
This comes three years after Florence and the Machine last released any new music, with their critically acclaimed album Dance Fever from 2022. However, she recently posted videos of herself in the studio with Idles guitarist Mark Bowen, whom she recently worked with to create a cover of the No Doubt hit ‘Just a Girl’ for the soundtrack of the TV show Yellowjackets.
It is currently not known what role Bowen has taken in the production of Florence and the Machine’s speculated upcoming sixth album, but Welch said previously that Idles were “one of [her] favourite bands” and that she had “been wanting to work on something together for a while.”
The band are re-emerging after touring Dance Fever extensively throughout the past few years. This culminated in a special performance to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut album Lungs at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the BBC Proms, in September 2024.
However, Welch has also made sporadic appearances to collaborate with other artists since then, including performing at Glastonbury in June with The Maccabees, and featuring on a song for The Weeknd’s latest album called ‘Reflections Laughing’.
