Listen to Florence and The Machine perform ‘Light Of Love’ from self-isolation
Florence and The Machine has shared a gorgeous a capella version of her brand new single ‘Light Of Love’, which she released last week.
The track was made during the recording process for her 2018 record High As Hope but, surprisingly, didn’t find it’s way on to the album. Now, however, the song has seen the light of day at long last. When sharing the new song ‘Light of Love’, Florence Welch said on her Instagram account: “I thought I would release it at midnight tonight, as a little token of my love. I love and miss you all so much. With you in spirit from South London lockdown.”
The single also has a charitable angle too. The proceeds from the song will go towards the Intensive Care Society which helps doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who are working on the frontline of the outbreak.
The song was also referenced in Don’t Go Blindly Into the Dark, a 2019 illustrated book from Vincent Haycock. Haycock has also directed a number of Florence and the Machine videos over recent years. The title of the book was a reference to lyrics from ‘Light of Love’.
In the recently uploaded version of the track, Welch said on her Instagram page how overwhelmed she was at how much more money has been raised for the Intensive Care Society compared to what she imagined and captioned it: “Thank you for all your kind words about the song, and for all your support for the Intensive Care Society @ics_updates,” she wrote.
