FLESH – AVIN IT IN IBIZA

This week’s Unsigned Sunday is a slice of tongue-in-cheek pastiche, taking us back to the 90s and an age when slacker Brit-pop and the baggy movement were the toast of our culture.

‘AVIN IT IN IBIZA’ comes with a stoner punk-rock riff reminiscent of Weezer and many of the more sugary sounds that appeared at the arse end of grunge. However, FLESH’s Mancunian twang brings the track very firmly back to our shores, planting it in some lost crevice of obscurity in between Oasis and Longpigs.

It’s not the most serious way to spend your Sunday, but anyone who has ever mustered a dry smile at the sight of those who just can’t deal with the fact that the Gallagher brothers are no more will appreciate the humour of the sentiment (fair play, apparently Noel is up to something, but the less said about that the better).

Back to FLESH though and above all, you have to hand it to them that ‘AVIN IT IN IBIZA’ is pretty catchy. So rather than rush for your wallet to pay over the odds to catch Ride excavate what surely has to be the very last morsel out of the Brit-pop reformation pie, why not save yourself a job and check these guys out?

Catch them headline The Castle Hotel in Manchester on February 7th. Anyone heading to see Peace at the Deaf Institute March 12th-14th will also be pleased to know that FLESH have been added as support.
