First ever AI music designer given record deal
Another milestone in the artificial intelligence music industry was hit on July 24th, after Hallwood Media announced a record deal with Imoliver, who they describe as the most-streamed creator on the AI music generation platform Suno.
Imoliver is a real person rather than the creation of artificial intelligence, and Hallwood has signed him for his prowess in using “the AI-powered platform to develop his lush sonic landscapes.” He is the first ever Suno creator to sign with a record label.
Neil Jacobson, the former president of Geffen Records, founded Hallwood Media. Jacobson backed the decision in a statement that began, “Imoliver represents the future of our medium. He’s a music designer who stands at the intersection of craftwork and taste. As we share his journey, the world will see the dexterity behind his work and what makes it so special. What he does is exactly why I love music and why we push boundaries at Hallwood.”
Imoliver added to the message, stating, “Signing with Hallwood is a huge moment, not just for me, but for the future of music. It’s a sign the industry is ready to embrace new ideas and new ways of creating. This isn’t about replacing artists, it’s about expanding what’s possible.”
The independent music company have announced that Imoliver’s song ‘Stone’, which currently has over three million plays on the AI platform Suno, will be released on all streaming platforms on August 8th.
Following the release of the first single, a full album will be released on October 24th. Hallwood will back the music designer with marketing, promotion, and a full array of artist services.
Elsewhere in the world of music and AI, The Velvet Sundown, a band that has garnered over 700,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, is at the heart of an elaborate “art hoax” in which it was heavily suggested that the band is not even real.
