Fiona Apple teams up with Bob Dylan’s son, Jakob, for Beach Boys cover
Fiona Apple and Jakob Dylan have collaborated to cover the Beach Boys song ‘In My Room’ which will appear in the new documentary Echo in the Canyon.
The film, directed by Andrew Slater, looks at how musical groups such as The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and more birthed the beginnings of the Laurel Canyon music scene and how the echo of these artists’ creations reverberated across the world.
Apple and Dylan’s cover will appear as part of the soundtrack, featuring music by Beck, Cat Power, Eric Clapton, and more.
“The music that came out of the Laurel Canyon scene was inspiring to my generation of songwriters,” Dylan, who also executive produced the documentary, told Rolling Stone.
Beck, who also appears in the film, added: “These records come all of the sudden, like an avalanche, and there’s nothing like them before.”
