Finn Wolfhard, the actor best known for his role in the Netflix hit television series Stranger Things, has announced his new band The Aubreys.
The new groups arrives just two months after the split of his previous band, Calpurnia, who called it a day after two years together—after the release of one EP and a string of singles.
At the time, it was thought that Wolfhard’s hectic working schedule as an actor was the key factor in Calpurnia’s split but now it’s clear that his musical aspirations will be channelled through a new outfit.
Teaming up with his former Calpurnia drummer Malcolm Craig, The Aubreys is working as a duo and teamed up with producer Lawrence Rothman to record new material. The band’s new opening arrives after director Floria Sigismondi recruited The Aubreys to record tracks for the new supernatural horror film The Turning which, incidentally, stars Wolfhard as part of the cast.
The Aubreys new song, ‘Getting Better (otherwise)’, will appear as part of the film and was, according to Rothman, was inspired by Jay Reatard’s ’90s project The Reatards. “Finn’s character in the film (Miles) is a real musical kid and retreats to his bedroom a lot to dispense his grief and confusion into music and we wanted that represented on the soundtrack,” he said.
