As the curling finger of this year’s Live at Leeds festival beckons us ever closer to what promises to be a naughty weekend of music, it’s not the allure of the big boys and girls, so to speak, that’s warming our cockles and capturing our attention.
By now we’re all aware of the how good the likes of Drenge, Wolf Alice et al are so it only seems just to cast our glances to the foot of the bill; the river in which rough stones are mined, sieved and then eventually presented as diamonds of their time.
Using that analogy, enigmatic three-piece FANS is our rough diamond and their number ‘All This Time’ is the Far Out Track of the Day.
The group, produced by the same genius behind Eagulls’ ground-breaking album, have been riding the air waves of some well respected radio stations as of late and can count BBC 6 Music and XFM as fans, as well as occupying the pages of some other half decent zines.
Word on the grapevine is that FANS debut single, ‘All This Time’, isn’t even their best (that accolade belongs to a certain post punk effort ‘Another Way’) and baring that in mind, I know where I’ll be come 12.30 Saturday afternoon.
