Ethan Browne, son of Jackson Browne, dead aged 52

Ethan Browne, a model and an actor and the son of singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, has passed away at the age of 52.

Jackson shared the tragic news about his son via his official Facebook page on the evening of November 26th. He wrote, “It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away.”

The statement finished, “We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment.”

Ethan was born to Jackson and model Phyllis Major in 1973. It only took six months for the child to be on the cover of Rolling Stone, held in his father’s arms.

In the cover story, Jackson addressed the child, stating, “I wanted a baby ’cause I wanted to be a baby. I play with [Ethan] all the time; there’s something pure about it. Look at all those expressions he’s got. He’s a real kick in the ass.”

In 2022, Jackson added to these claims. “He’s a great son, a great man,” he said. “I love seeing him with his kids. When I see him in his movies, modelling, with his daughter, and being such a great dad, it makes me very proud. It makes me feel I’ve done something really right in my life.”

After his first brush with fame, Ethan went on to enjoy a great modelling and acting career. During his modelling career, he modelled in campaigns for designers like Isaac Mizrahi.

In 1995, he played opposite Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller in Hackers. He also starred alongside Kate Hudson in the 2004 film, Raising Helen.

After this, he pivoted to the music industry, following in his father’s footsteps. He began a record label, and released an album with Cat Colbert, the child of the bassist Charles Colbet. He released an album, Right Before Your Eyes, in 2022.

Ethan is survived by his father and his half-brother, Ryan. See his father’s official statement on Facebook below.
