Elton John to release a book chronicling his final tour

After saying goodbye to performing live, Elton John is giving his fans a chance to relive those final on-stage moments. The musician has announced a new book celebrating his Farewell Yellow Brick Road our.

Elton John’s final tour initially kicked off in 2018 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The UK leg triumphantly ended in 2023 with a major headline slot at Glastonbury Festival ahead of European dates which concluded with a final show in Stockholm.

The run of dates marked the iconic musician’s retirement from live performance after a touring career that spanned over 50 years. The new book, Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life On Tour, captures these final moments through photographs and written stories.

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer said he was “incredibly excited” to announce the book, which traces the five-year-long farewell tour. He wrote on Instagram that it “goes behind the scenes on my final tour, from Allentown, PA, to Stockholm, Sweden and everywhere in between.”

“It’s been a beautiful journey creating this book and remembering the people and places that shaped an incredible chapter in my life,” he continued. “As well as the stories and memories, not just from this tour but from throughout my career, I’ve included unreleased photography and memorabilia that I hope give you never-before-seen insights of my life on the road.”

The book description reads, “Readers will get a behind-the-scenes look into every aspect of the incredible tour, including Elton’s dazzling, final performances at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, his record-breaking performance at Glastonbury, his legendary touring wardrobe by Gucci, the beautifully detailed stage design, celebrity guest attendees, official tour photography, and more.”

Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life On Tour is set for release on September 24th, officially closing the book on this era of Elton John’s life.
