East India Youth – Carousel

East India Youth has unveiled the first track to be taken from his second album Culture of Volume, which will be released on XL Recordings April 6th.

The record is a pretty prompt follow-up to his debut TOTAL STRIFE FOREVER, which was met with hugely positive reviews and saw East India Youth aka William Doyle nominated for the Mercury Prize.

The album was an truly intriguing piece of work, straddling electronica, pop and the alternative in equal measure.

On first listen, ‘Carousel’ doesn’t sound like it has the same pop hooks as past singles like ‘Dripping Down’ or ‘Heaven, How Long’, but it does give an indication that it is part of a record possibly more ethereal and cinematic than its pre-predecessor.

Obviously this is all just speculation, but for now you can watch the video for ‘Carousel’ below.
