We continue to melt at every single note played by the Leeds band. Their latest video for the brilliant ‘Velvet’ taken form the brilliant LP Ullages continues to move the band from cult heroes to all around impeccable artists.
Nowadays it’s not good enough to make a good record, it’s not even good enough to have a few decent videos. What you need to do is create an identity to really push your ethos and band. The best identities are natural and naturally Eagulls have a homegrown one of their own.
‘Velvet’ continues to explore this with a smooth visual which could easily be seen as an arthouse film as easily as a brilliant video. John Milton, former Portishead collaborator directed the video and here’s a few words about that from frontman George Milton “I was a fan of John Minton’s work that he’d created for Portishead and was lucky enough to get him to work with me on this video, we both share interests in old cinema and we saw Saul Bass and Fernand Leger as inspirations on the visual elements and John was able to adapt these inspirations into a modern take with a theme of love loss running throughout.”
Either way Eagulls are continuing to soar with every damn flap of their feathers.
