Dylan O’Brien reveals the one star he is always mistaken for
In the lead-up to his new movie Twinless, actor Dylan O’Brien has revealed the one star he always gets mistaken for.
O’Brien will star in the upcoming drama alongside James Sweeney. Twinless is a film about two friends who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bond. At Sundance, Twinless won the coveted ‘Audience Award’, and O’Brien was recognised for best performance in his leading dual role as twin brothers.
To discuss the experience of making the movie, O’Brien spoke to fellow actor and friend Logan Lerman for Interview Magazine. The pair discussed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to interview each other, revealing an odd quirk they share.
O’Brien commented, “I’m so excited for this too, because not only do I love you, but I felt like you’d be really good at this as the human who I most get mistaken for—and I know you experience the same. It’s so perfectly on theme for Twinless.“
Lerman, who starred as the titular character in the original Percy Jackson movies, responded, “We’re actually twins,” to which O’Brien commented, “According to a lot of the population, we fucking are.”
Laughing, the pair shared comedic remarks. Lerman noted, “People think I’m you all the time, which is an honor. I love taking credit for your work,” to which O’Brien said, “I was amazing in Percy Jackson [& the Olympians: The Lightning Thief].“
O’Brien later went on to share a story in which the pair bumped into one another in New York at a play, while they were texting one another, hoping to meet in the foreseeable future. Lerman called it “The coincidence of all coincidences.”
His next projects include the film Being Heumann, based on the book that Judy Heumann wrote about the Disability Civil Rights Movement in the 1970s.
