Manchester-based five-piece Dutch Uncles have announced that they will unveil their new album O Shudder at a non-league football match on Saturday February 14th.
The amateur clash featuring West Didsbury & Chorlton vs Bootle FC is very much a local affair for the band, who hail from the south Manchester communities surrounding the home side’s ground.
Fans will then have the chance to take on Dutch Uncles FC in a half-time penalty shootout, before O Shudder is premiered in its entirety via the stadium tannoy following the final whistle. The record will get its full release via Memphis Industries on February 23rd.
Drummer Andy Proudfoot explained: “Between the five of us, we support three different football teams: Stockport County, Manchester United and [Manchester] City. This season we’ve adopted our local amateur team so we can call cheer on the same side every Saturday without breaking out into any arguments.
“It’s started to become a regular pilgrimage for all of us and we thought it would be fun to mark the release of our new album by sponsoring their biggest match ever… a quarter final cup tie against against Bootle.”
