Drugdealer share new track ‘Fools’ and announce new album out in Spring
Led by Los Angeles based artist Michael Collins, Drugdealer have announced that their upcoming LP Raw Honey will arrive on April 19th. To commemorate the announcement the band have also shared a brand new video for their richly retro track ‘Fools’.
The ‘band’ Drugdealer are likely more easily identified as a collective (or perhaps a cartel?) of different influences and creative forces driving hoe one message of abundant artistry. It’s a beautiful proposition and their latest LP Raw Honey will see the group continue where previous effort The End of Comedy left off – delivering that old-cane-sugar-sweet taste of pre-FDA pop.
The new album will continue to keep Drugdealer’s ethos with a variety of different collaborators and contributors. Raw Honey was engineered by Mac DeMarco and features contributions of Josh Da Costa (drums), Jackson MacIntosh (guitar), Danny Garcia (guitar), Michael Long (lead guitar), and Benjamin Schwab (backing vocals, guitar, organ, piano, wurlitzer), as well as guest vocalists like country balladeer Dougie Poole, Harley Hill-Richmond, and frequent collaborator Natalie Mering (Weyes Blood) whose dulcet tones sing low before soaring on ‘Honey,’ a track as silky as the nectar itself.
‘Fools’ is an equally satisfying saccharine syrup of sultry rhythm, tantalising vocals and the desire to take you for a trip down memory lane, to a time when pop wasn’t a dirty word.
Take a listen to ‘Fool’s below and start your weekend off right.
