Donald Trump threatens Bruce Springsteen following on-stage rant: “We’ll all see how it goes for him”

After Bruce Springsteen used the opening night of his European tour in Manchester on May 14th to lambast Donald Trump on several occasions, the President of the United States has now responded and issued a threat to the musician.

In the first of three dates that Springsteen is set to play at Manchester’s Co-op Live, he told those in attendance, “In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”

Springsteen also called for action from his audience, asking for “all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom ring.”

Later, during the same concert, before playing ‘My City of Ruins’, Springsteen delivered his longest speech of the night. He began by saying, “There’s some very weird, strange and dangerous shit going on out there right now. In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now.”

Springsteen also criticised their foreign policy, claiming the regime is “abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom”.

The Boss then hit out at the immigration stance and the defunding of universities, and also told those in Manchester: “A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea of what it means to be deeply American.”

Now, Trump has responded to Springsteen on Truth Social, writing: “I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country.”

The Republican continued: “If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now! Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is “dumb as a rock,” and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)?”

Trump then seemingly threatened Springsteen, adding, “This dried out “prune” of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “standard fare.” Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

Springsteen will have the opportunity to respond to Trump when he performs again at Manchester’s Co-op Live on May 17th.

The concert in Manchester isn’t the first time Springsteen has condemned Trump. During the election campaign in 2024, Springsteen performed at a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on October 24th and used the concert to describe Trump as an “American tyrant.”

Explaining why he backed Harris over Trump, Springsteen shared: “I want a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten, but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle class economy that will serve all our citizens.”

Prior to appearing at the rally in Atlanta, Georgia, Springsteen officially declared his support for the Democrats on social media and called Trump the “most dangerous” presidential candidate in his lifetime, again suggesting that he doesn’t understand the meaning or history of the United States.
