First ‘Doctor Sleep’ poster pays homage to ‘The Shining’


Warner Brothers has released the first poster for Mike Flanagan’s new film Doctor Sleep which pays homage to The Shining.

Doctor Sleep, which will be an adaptation of the King novel by the same name, will see Flanagan direct the film alongside producing partner, Trevor Macy who will introduce Vertigo Entertainment’s Jon Berg into the mix.

The new movie, which will act as the sequel to horror classic The Shining, has already cast the likes of Jacob Tremblay, Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson. Director Flanagan has plenty of experience in the role having already been the brains behind Netflix’s adaptation of the King suspense novel Gerald’s Game and, of course, the hit show The Haunting of Hill House

“Doctor Sleep follows Danny Torrance, a middle-aged man drifting through America in order to shed his father’s alcoholism which passed down to him in order to forget the events of The Shining,” according to the film’s synopsis. “After landing into a small Massachusetts town and with the aid of a cat, he becomes ‘Doctor Sleep”‘ After meeting a young girl with the most powerful shining Danny’s ever seen, he must now face the demons of his past and the demons of the present in order to save her from a horrifying evil known as ‘The True Knot’.”

Elsewhere Carl Lumbly will play Dick Hallorann, Alex Essoe takes on Wendy Torrance which will see slight the continuation of the storyline from The Shining. Bruce Greenwood plays Dr. John, Alyn Lind is Snakebite Andi and Kyliegh Curran will be Abra Stone.

The film is being readied for a cinema release in January 2020 and, as they excitement builds, the first visuals have been released:
