Disney planning 'Pirates of the Caribbean' reboot with 'Deadpool' writers

Disney has Deadpool writers in their sights as they attempt to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, has contacted writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who are in talks to write the script for the sixth instalment of the highly popular series.

Reese and Wernick, who wrote the Deadpool films, are also responsible for Zombieland and its sequel. The fifth film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, was released last year to mediocre reviews. That film also holds the unfortunate title of being the second-lowest box office gross of the series. With that in mind, speculation about who will return for the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film is rife and it is not yet known if the film will be a total overhaul or a light continuation from the previous films.

As controversy surrounds lead actor Johnny Depp, it is also not yet known if he will return for the next film.
