Diana Ross cancels concert due to “unforeseen circumstances”

Legendary singer Diana Ross has cancelled an upcoming performance, citing “unforeseen circumstances”.

The Supremes vocalist was due to perform on the Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas cruise ship later this month as the headline act. However, Ross has now pulled out of the commitment.

A representative for Ross told People: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Diana Ross will be unable to appear.”

In response to the cancellation, Royal Cruises told the same publication: “We are disappointed that Diana Ross is unable to join us to be godmother of Star of the Seas. We look forward to announcing our new godmother soon.”

No further reason has been given for the cancellation. The new ship is set to sail from Port Canaveral, near Orlando, Florida, on August 20th, for a three-day voyage.

This summer, Ross has played a series of shows in Europe, including at Montreux Jazz, Henley Festival, as well as a UK arena tour, which included dates at London’s O2 Arena, Leeds’ First Direct Arena and the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

As it stands, she is still set to perform at the Saratoga Winery in California on August 16th, which suggests her reasoning for pulling out of the cruise ship concert isn’t related to her health.

Additionally, during an interview with People in June, she provided a positive health update, sharing of her priorities, “Health and well-being. And my family is equally everything to me. I like staying busy. Because I love what I do, it keeps me grounded. I’m swimming a lot lately to stay flexible. I must get my sleep which is important to me. I do my best to eat well, but I do like Häagen-Dazs ice cream.”

The 81-year-old’s Beautiful Love tour is set to run until the end of 2025, with the final date planned for December 13th in Palm Springs.
