Dexys Midnight Runners announce 2026 UK and Ireland tour
Dexys Midnight Runners have announced a run of dates across the UK and Ireland this October and November, and have also signed newly to Heavenly Recordings.
The band were founded in Birmingham in 1978 and hav released three albums thus far in their career, 1980’s Searching For The Young Soul Rebels, 1982’s Too-Rye-Ay and 1985’s Don’t Stand Me Down.
Most notably, the band gained further notoriety with a string of top ten hits in the 1980s, including number ones ‘Geno’ and the globally-recognisable ‘Come on Eileen’.
Following on from this, singer Kevin Rowland would go on to release both solo and further band albums, under the Dexys name, such as 2012’s One Day I’m Going To Soar and 2023’s The Feminine Divine, which made number six in the UK albums chart.
The new announcement confirms that the band are back working under the Dexy Midnight Runners name. The dates will be the first time Dexys, fronted by Rowland, have toured under the name of Dexys Midnight Runners since 2003, since a sold-out show at London’s Southbank Centre.
The run of shows will kick off on October 20th in Glasgow, and from there hit spots in Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Manchester, London and Cambridge.
In November, the classic band will continue on into the last half of the confirmed shows, playing in Brighton, Dublin, Belfast and Bristol.
Heavingly Recordings previous roster included the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Saint Etienne. Current signees include Kneecap, Confidence Man, Baxter Dury, Katy J Pearson and more, meaning that Dexys Midnight Runners will be in company for any future recording projects on the horizon.
