Devendra Banhart has announced his first poetry book, Weeping Gang Bliss Void Yab-Yum, which will be out April 23 via Featherproof books.

“This poetry collection is at turns surreal, pious, silly, and heartbreaking, but always true to its own logic, even as it creates and expands that logic as it goes,” a press release reads. “It’s the most personal work Devendra Banhart has ever created.”

According to the synopsis, the book “weaves together awed autobiographical sketches so that a distinct sensibility and experience emerge, while simultaneously setting the reader free to traverse an imaginative wilderness.”

While Weeping Gang Bliss Void Yab-Yum marks Banhart’s first foray into published poetry, In 2015, he released two books of visual art which came in collaboration with artist Adam Tullie.

All print orders of the book come with free digital files and can be pre-ordered here.
