Demi Lovato shares first public words since her hospitalisation

On Tuesday 24th July, Demi Lovato was admitted to hospital for an apparent overdose, and yesterday she took to social media to address the incident and thank those who supported her.

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” she said in a statement. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have no done yet.”

Lovato has suffered from this illness for a long time, having previously been hospitalised when she was only 18 for “for emotional and physical issues”. She also recently released a documentary Simply Complicated which looked deeper into her battles with substance abuse. Following this recent relapse, the singer said: “I now need time to heal”.

We wish her well on her journey to overcome this illness.
