Deerhoof unveil ‘Paradise Girls’

US punk stalwarts Deerhoof have unveiled a brand new track and also announced they will mark their 20th anniversary with the release of their 13th album.

The record will be called La Isla Bonita and judging by one of the first glimpses in the shape of ‘Paradise Girls’, the band have ditched a little of their trademark rock ‘n’ roll for a bit more of a carnival vibe this time around.

There’s even a slight dancehall vibe on the track as frontwoman Satomi Matsuzaki sings “girls, who play the bass guitar”.

“Our heroes on this song are Joan Jett, Janet Jackson, Kim Gordon, Kathleen Hanna. It’s about how girls are and have always been smarter,” comments drummer Greg Saunier.

Fans will be able to get their hands on the whole record when it is released by Upset the Rhythm on November 3rd. But until then give ‘Paradise Girls’ a listen.
