Deerhoof have released a new single 'Come Down Here And Say That'

Deerhoof have released a new single ‘Come Down Here And Say That’ featuring Stereolab’s Lætitia Sadier from their new album Mountain Moves, out 8th September on Joyful Noise Recordings.

The band shared insight into the “decidedly ‘pop’” sound of their new album and explain the song’s title “comes from Dylan. The Royal Albert Hall audience is booing him for “going pop” and in a moment of quick-wittedness he says, “Come up here and say that!” Dylan was centring the young and leaving the folk purists in the dust. Now the baby boomers he sang to have gone from being radical role models to being the generation that put Trump in office.

The numbers say that the young and the poor are trying to save the world, for everyone, and the boomers and the powerful are saying “You are dreaming.” Of course they say it from a safe, elitist, corporate-sponsored, media-produced distance, so we wanted to say, “Come down here and say that to our faces.”
