Deerhoof and Getdown Services feature on ‘Music for Iran’ compilation

Deerhoof, Getdown Services, and more appear on the fourth Music for Iran compilation, an album that aims to raise money for the release of political prisoners in Iran.

The compilation was put together by Music For Iran, a project set up by the band Holiday Ghosts following the 2022 Women, Life, Freedom movement in Iran. The Holiday Ghost song, ‘State Lines’, closes out the 26-track compilation.

As per Bandcamp, on which the album is available for purchase, the compilations aim to “raise awareness for the struggles of Iranian people under the dictatorship and gender segregating laws of the Islamic Regime of Iran.”

The charitable work also includes overturning death penalties for protesters and providing funds for displaced families.

Announcing their inclusion in the album, Getdown Services wrote on social media, “Our song “Special Cups” is one of 26 unreleased pieces of music by some great artists.”

After encouraging their fans to buy the digital album, the duo added, “You’ll get to hear 26 exclusive pieces of music, and it’s a very important cause.”

Other notable names on the album include the American indie rock band Deerhoof, who open the compilation with a live recording of their track ‘Kids Are So Small’.

Elsewhere, Crack Cloud have included their song ‘Not The Same Thing’, while Traumhaus have offered up a version of the single ‘Past Me’, recorded live at Remei sessions. See the full tracklist below.
