Dee Snider denies he’s on his death bed amid cancelled Twisted Sister reunion tour

Dee Snider has opened up on the reason why Twisted Sister were forced to cancel their most recent tour, amid rumours about his declining health.

The band were forced to cancel their planned 50th anniversary tour earlier this month, citing health issues for Snider in the form of degenerative arthritis as the reason he was unable to perform.

However, this subsequently sparked speculation that the frontman’s condition was in a far worse state than had been made public at the time, leading him to set the record straight and confirm the truth about his health.

Speaking during an interview over the weekend on the House of Hair radio show, Snider said (per American Songwriter): “I’m not dying! No, not never. I mean, we’re all dying, but not immediately.”

He added: “My announcement about cancelling the tour for health reasons — problems with my heart, arthritis, things like that — the rumours have run wild that I am on my death bed. I am not.”

Snider admitted: “I just can’t do those things that I did in my 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and even 60s. Alright? Otherwise I’m alive and well. You won’t see me on the stage kicking ass like I used to, because that will mess me up.”

The tour had been due to serve as a 50th anniversary reunion for the band, who previously retired in 2016, as they would have travelled to the likes of Sâo Paolo, Belgium, Wales, and Mexico over the course of the coming months.

At the time, Twisted Sister revealed that Snider had been suffering from the effects of arthritis for many years, and “has had several surgeries over the years just to keep going, able to only perform a few songs at a time in pain”.

They also added: “The future of Twisted Sister will be determined in the next several weeks,” with no further announcement having been made in this regard.
