Declan McKenna popped into the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge yesterday to deliver a stunning cover of Dua Lipa‘s ‘Hallucinate’.
Armed with an acoustic guitar, McKenna performed a glorious stripped-back take on Dua Lipa’s monster track which he completely re-invented and made it a truly special Live Lounge moment—in complete contrast to Biffy Clyro’s disasterclass last week.
McKenna’s sophomore album Zeros is currently battling it out for the number one spot in the charts, going up against The Rolling Stones who, at the time of writing, are trailing the 21-year-old with the release of an extended edition of their 1973 record Goats Head Soup.
Far Out wrote in our 7.8 review of Zeros that, “McKenna opts for the more personal affectations which give the listener more of an insight into who he is rather than what he stands for—all while still offering the occasional jaded look on the Instagram generation such as on the song ‘Beautiful Faces’.”
“The album is a gorgeous candid look at modern life that provides a perfect source of escapism which feels especially relevant after this bizarre year as McKenna invites the listener into his own world for a 40-minute emotional rollercoaster.”
