Death Grips deny speculation they have broken up
Death Grips have responded to speculation about their future and confirmed they are still an active group.
In a new Instagram post shared on April 8th, the band shared an image of a piece of artwork which has the following message inked on it in permanent marker: “Despite rumour and hearsay, we remain active as Death Grips”. The statement was signed off by the band’s Stefan Burnett, better known as MC Ride and Zach Hill.
Notably, the message didn’t include Andy Morin’s name, who co-founded the group with Burnett and Hill in 2010.
In February, a direct message from Moran’s Instagram account surfaced online regarding Death Grips. He privately shared of the band’s future in a message that later leaked: “Yeah it’s over, Stefan doesn’t want to do any more. But truthfully none of us can ever predict what will happen with the group”.
Now, it appears that Death Grips are set to continue without Moran as his name was excluded from their new statement.
The group hasn’t performed together since an appearance at Austin City Limits in 2023, which is another reason fans suspected they were no longer active. Currently, Death Grips have no shows scheduled for the future.
So far, Death Grips have made six full-length studio albums, the most recent of which, Year of the Snitch, was released in 2018. However, their latest statement suggests they will return in the future with more music as a duo.
