Death Cab for Cutie have released a cover of Frightened Rabbit track ‘My Backwards Walk’.
The track, which originally appeared on the Scottish band’s 2008 record The Midnight Organ Fight, comes with heavy emotion on Cutie’s rendition following the passing of the Frightened Rabbit’s lead singer Scott Hutchison.
Both bands have a close relationship having toured extensively together in the past. “We had a very lovely time recording these Spotify singles,” the band said on Twitter. “Please enjoy this acoustic version of “Gold Rush”, as well as a cover of “My Backwards Walk” by our friends Frightened Rabbit. We miss you, Scott.”

Elsewhere, Frightened Rabbit have confirmed their return to the live stage for the first time since Hutchison’s death.
Lead singer Hutchison tragically took his own life in May this year. “There are no words to describe the overwhelming sadness and pain that comes with the death of our beloved Scott but to know he is no longer suffering brings us some comfort,” the band said after a brief search for Hutchison concluded.
Now, Grant Hutchison – Frightened Rabbit’s drummer and Scott’s brother- confirmed that the band have plans to return: “We had agreed to play Sleep in the Park before Scott passed and we felt that since it was something for such a great cause that we should stick to our decision and honour Scott in the best way we know—to play the songs he wrote and continue spreading his message of kindness whilst supporting Social Bite and the amazing work they do,” he told the BBC.
The band will also be joined by several guest vocalists, one of which includes the Twilight Sad’s James Graham.
