Yes, that’s correct, you read that right, Sheffield’s Dead Sons have been back in the studio ahead of their up and coming headline show next month, to record the very special one off stomper ‘Ape Heavy’.
After parting ways in 2014, Dead Sons left a hole that was felt much further afar than just their little home town of Sheffield, and since announcing the hugely anticipated, one off show, at the Leadmill, the ‘will they’/’won’t they’ anticipation around new material has been out of control.
The old faithful’s prayers were finally answered this evening though with ‘Ape Heavy’ picking up right where the lads left off.
In true Dead Sons style the ripping bass and razor sharp guitar riffs remind us instantly what we loved about these guys the first time round.
Recorded as a ‘one off’ by Alan Smyth, at Sheffield’s infamous 2 Fly Studios, the band reached out to their musical mates (and there’s plenty of them) to mime the lyrics for the video, it turns out though front-man Tom Rowley’s rendition was…well just too good, get a load of it below:
The Dead Sons play the Leadmill in Sheffield on December 19th, if you’ve not got your ticket yet, don’t hang around, they’re selling like fooking hot cakes.
