David Byrne once founded his own online magazine Reasons To Be Cheerful and now they have announced a brand new series aimed at focusing on “changes that have long seemed out of reach, but now, amid the coronavirus outbreak, are happening fast — and how we can make them stick.”
As we are all taking to the internet to find our own reasons to be cheerful amid a sea of negative news, the series is looking to provide some welcome reprieve for its readers.
Countries around the globe are currently in lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic but rather than focus on the negative Talking Heads’ former frontman David Byrne and his magazine Reasons To Be Cheerful, are hoping to show the advancements that can be made while under quarantine.
The ‘Now Anything Ids Possible’ series will cover the widespread implementation of basic income, the release of inmates, and the arrangement of our urban living.
Journalist Mitch Anderson writes in the introduction to ‘Now Anything Is Possible,’ as these changes in aid of humanity gain global momentum, “it will be difficult to put the toothpaste back in the tube.” It offers a glimpse of governmental power and of the power of the people.
Byrne’s own essay was recently shared and offered a light at the end of the tunnel, “This is a catalyzing moment and many of the changes that have been made or contemplated are going to be permanent –– some of those are good, and some deeply questionable,” David Byrne notes in a press release.
“We at Reasons to be Cheerful of course want to know: how can we keep the good stuff? Who is doing it (it’s already happening) and how those ideas and initiatives are working out?”
