David Bowie, Kurt Cobain and John Lennon's handwriting being turned in to fonts


Some slightly odd news, that a new project called Songwriters Fonts has taken the somewhat odd step and created typefaces based on the handwritten scrawls of memorable musicians, as Stereogum reports.

The artists included in the project so far are Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, and Serge Gainsbourg. This may seem like an incredible collection of idols and icons of the musical world, however remember that this array of incredible talent is the starting pool. Each of the fonts were developed using “original handwritten letters and notes” from each of the idols. The typefaces are available for free for personal use. Check them all out.

Songwriters Fonts is a project by Julien Sens and Nicolas Damiens and highlights the intricate and personal nature of our own handwriting.
