Dave Grohl reveals he had “nothing to do” with daughter Violet’s record deal

Dave Grohl has revealed that he had “absolutely nothing to do with” his daughter, Violet Grohl’s, new record deal with Republic Records.

Last month, it was announced that the LA-based musician officially inked with Republic Records through her own imprint, Auroura Records.

Speaking newly on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Violet’s father and Foo Fighters frontman, Dave, explained that he only found out about the impressive record deal when his daughter popped over for dinner.

The 19-year-old has made her debut album with producer Justin Raisen and, her father confessed, “did it on her own”.

He went on, “I had absolutely nothing to do with this record at all. And I had no idea. I knew she was looking to sign a record deal, and she is like, ‘Hey dad, can I come over for dinner tonight?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure. What do you want me to make?’”

The usual night of domestic peace was turned into a celebratory feast when Violet came over and, in Dave’s words, told her father, “‘I signed my record deal today.’”

Dave was overjoyed for her: “I’m just like, ‘Oh my God!’ So, I’m totally like uninvolved and I’m like the dad who wants to be there and know everything. And she’s just totally doing her own thing. It’s amazing.”

The ‘Everlong’ singer revealed that the album is “amazing”; some songs remind him of “The Sundays or Cocteau Twins and things like that. Then there’s like super hard, really heavy rock stuff.”

Violet isn’t the only one set to release new music soon. Foo Fighters recently announced their new album, Your Favorite Toy, slated for an April 24th release. The frontman shared sweetly that Violet’s debut album “inspired” the project.

Foo Fighters will be taking their new record on the road this summer across North America and Europe. Their jaunt will kick off in June 2025 at the Unity Arena in Oslo; at the end of the month, the rock band will arrive in the United Kingdom for two shows at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 25th and June 27th. They also have several festival headline dates scheduled across the continent.
