Greg Kurstin and Dave Grohl have announced a brand new Hannukah song series which will see the duo share eight covers over the holiday period. The Foo Fighters frontman and producer Kurstin will unleash eight of their finest renditions of classic tracks to brighten up 2020.
We all know 2020 has been tough so let us be thankful that Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin are trying to end the dumpster-fire of a year on a high note with eight spectacular covers as part of a new song series. The duo took to Twitter to share the news in typical style.
There have been plenty of rock Christmas songs from the Foos but, this year, the band’s leading man was interested in changing it up a bit. “This year, instead of doing a Christmas song, Greg and I decided to celebrate Hanukkah by recording eight songs by eight famous Jewish artists and releasing one song each night of Hanukkah,” Grohl said of the project.
“With all the mishegas of 2020, Greg Kurstin & I were kibbitzing about how we could make Hannukah extra-special this year,” he added in a tweet.
“Festival of Lights?! How about a festival of tasty LICKS! So hold on to your tuchuses… we’ve got something special coming for your shayna punims.” Grohl seems ready to deliver a plethora of incredible songs for the special time and by revisiting eight leading Jewish voices in the world of rock, perhaps open up a few minds along the way.
While we are yet to receive any details about which songs will be picked for a cover or two, there’s a good chance that we will see Grohl’s cheesy grin all over the festive period.
