The Courteeners share footage of ‘The 17th’ live at Heaton Park
Courteeners have shared live footage of their song ‘The 17th’ which has been taken from the mammoth performance at Heaton Park.
The release arrives to mark the one-year anniversary of the band’s incredible homecoming show at Manchester’s Heaton Park, one which will be remembered as arguably their biggest live performance to date.
“It’s 50,000 people, which is bullshit in my eyes because I know we could have done more,” frontman Liam Fray told NME at the time. “It cements our place at the table,” he added. “Let’s face it, if someone was doing that in London at Hyde Park, the fucking world would explode.
“I still have to pinch myself. I was talking to Paul Weller the other week and he said ‘Fucking good on you, because it’s fucking perseverance’.”
Now, remembering the moment, the band said: “One year today we played in front of 50,000 of you in our back yard. Best night of our lives,” while writing in a post on social media.
