Colombian musicians B-King and DJ Regio Clown found dead in Mexico

Two Colombian musicians, B-King and DJ Regio Clown, have been found dead in Mexico after previously being reported missing.

The double act, real names Byron Sánchez (B-King) and Jorge Herrera (DJ Regio Clown), went missing in the State of Mexico, near Mexico City, on September 16th while on tour in the region. Sánchez’s body was identified by his family at a procedure held at a prosecutor’s office.

Sánchez and Herrera were last spotted in the Polanco neighborhood in Mexico City before they went missing, Billboard state.

Mexican authorities have now launched an investigation into the case, with the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office currently gathering testimonies and video evidence.

In a statement, they shared: “Thanks to this coordination, forensic services personnel from the Mexico State Attorney General’s Office compared the profiles of the missing persons and found matches with two deceased individuals who were located on September 17 in the municipality of Cocotitlán. In light of these facts, the Mexico State Attorney General’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation.”

The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, took to X to share his anger over their deaths, writing, “They assassinated our youth in the United States of Mexico International mafia strengthened by the stupid military and prohibitionist policy, called the ‘war on drugs,’ which they force upon humanity and Latin America More young people killed by a drug policy that is not an anti-drug-trafficking policy.”

In an earlier post, made on September 21st before they were confirmed dead, Petro wrote, “They disappeared after their concert in Sonora, perhaps due to the multinational mafias that are growing on our continent, due to the rampant drug consumption in the US that is also growing, due to the lack of love from its decadent society.”

He also said, “I hope for Mexico’s help to find these beautiful young people alive who dare to sing to beauty and keep hope in their hearts. All of Mexico, to find alive the beautiful young people of Colombia, to unite in youth and in songs all of Latin America, vanguard of humanity, of beauty and of change.”

The Mexican authorities are yet to share any further details on the ongoing case.
