Christian Oliver, ‘Valkyrie’ actor, dies in tragic plane crash

The German actor Christian Oliver, recognised for his roles in Speed Racer and Valkyrie, among others, has tragically died in a plane crash in the Caribbean, along with his two daughters.

The incident occurred during a flight from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to St Lucia. The aircraft encountered difficulties shortly after takeoff, leading to a plunge into the ocean.

The actor, born Christian Klepser, aged 51, lost his life along with his daughters Madita, aged ten, and Annik, 12. The plane’s owner and pilot, identified as American Robert Sachs, also perished in the crash.

Local responders, including divers and fishermen from Paget Farm on Bequia Island, rushed to assist at the scene. The SVG Coast Guard joined the efforts and successfully retrieved all four victims from the aircraft/sea.

The bodies have been transported to St Vincent, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted in the coming days. While the cause of the crash remains undetermined, representatives for Klepser expressed condolences, stating that their “thoughts and prayers are with him, his two daughters, and his family.”

The exact cause of the crash is still undetermined, but an investigation into the wreckage is underway. Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority stated to CBS News that it is “currently in the process of gathering information to assist in the investigation”.

The US State Department added that it was offering “all appropriate consular assistance” to the families of the victims.

Alongside Valkyrie and Speed Racer, Klepser also featured in Steven Soderbergh’s movie The Good German and two seasons of the German series Alarm for Cobra 11. He also appeared in the Netflix series Sense8.
