Chris Pratt dismisses AI actor Tilly Norwood: “I don’t know who this bitch is”

Chris Pratt has addressed AI-actor Tilly Norwood, a creation that he dismissed as “all bullshit”.

Norwood, who is AI and boasts close to 100,000 followers on Instagram, was unveiled at the Zurich Film Festival last year by Eline Van Der Velden, who is the person responsible for her creation.

After Norwood secured representation, SAG-AFTRA condemned her creation in a statement, which reads, “To be clear, ‘Tilly Norwood’ is not an actor, it’s a character generated by a computer program that was trained on the work of countless professional performers — without permission or compensation.”

Additionally, Equity, the body that represents UK actors, similarly said, “Tilly is not an actress. She is an AI tool. Or it is an AI tool. That’s not a performer.”

Now, in a new interview with Variety, Pratt said of the looming potential threat of AI impacting the future of Hollywood, “I don’t feel like someone’s gonna replace me that’s AI.”

He then turned his attention to Norwood, adding, “I heard this Tilly Norwood thing, I think that’s all bullshit. I’ve never seen her in a movie. I don’t know who this bitch is. It’s all fake until it’s something.”

However, Pratt, who was speaking at the premiere of his new movie Mercy, did also say that AI could be “an amazing tool in the right hands”, but does believe that it will “inevitably disrupt the industry” to a degree.

He added, “I don’t think you’re going to replace the human soul of a director or a writer or an actor or a singer or any of this stuff that requires human yearning and suffering and vision in art.”

Pratt’s comments come after Ben Affleck expressed a similar sentiment on the topic when he recently appeared in conversation on The Joe Rogan Experience.

Affleck said, “I actually don’t think it’s going to be able to write anything meaningful, and in particular, that it’s going to be making movies from whole cloth, like Tilly Norwood – that’s bullshit.”
