Chris Cornell dead at 52 as a result of suicide


The musician best known as being the frontman of both the pioneering grunge band Soundgarden as well as Audioslave, formed of the former members of Rage Against the Machine has passed away at the age of 52.

He was found dead in his Detroit hotel room this morning after performing with a reformed Soundgarden the previous evening. The cause of death was originally unknown but has later been confirmed as suicide by hanging via a coroners report.

Stars such as Nile Rogers, Courtney Love, Jimmy Page and former band mate Tom Morello have all paid their respects to the iconic musician.

Cornell rose to fame as singer and rhythm guitarist of Soundgarden, formed in 1984 they went on to be one of the leading and most respected bands of the 90s grunge era, he later went on to a achieve a widely accomplished musical carrier with bands Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and even a solo album with renounced R&B producer Timberland.
