Chloe Grace Moretz to star in new science-fiction film ‘Mother/Android’
Chloe Grace Moretz has been the latest high-profile name to be recruited by Mattson Tomlin for the planned science-fiction film Mother/Android.
Tomlin, a prolific screenwriter who is enjoying a wave of success after he wrote the script for the current Netflix hit Project Power starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is looking to move his career into the director’s chair and will helm the planned sci-fi effort.
Reuniting his collaborative partnership with Matt Reeves, who Tomlin work with as co-writer of The Batman, will see Reeves act as producer on Mother/ Android alongside Adam Kassan and Rafi Crohn. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miramax representative Bill Block will also produce with Charles Miller.
Adding Chloe Grace Moretz to the cast will see the actress play the role of Georgia, who, alongside her boyfriend Sam, attempt to escape a country which is embroiled within an unexpected war with artificial intelligence.
“Mother/ Android is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world,” Tomlin said of the project. “I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times.”
Bill Block added: “Tomlin gracefully weaves the history of his roots into a futuristic tale with an imaginative twist on reality. It’s a true testament to his talent and unique approach at captivating broad, global audiences.”
The deeply personal effort sees writer and director Tomlin reflect on his own birth parents, partially basing it the decision they made to save their child from dangers of the Romanian Revolution.
