One of Far Out’s favourite new bands are Chastity Belt. The Seattle four-piece have evoked an adolescent stirring within us, their bratty and logical approach to music making has set a fire in our bellies.
Hear those bellies roar and warm up the marshmallows then. Not only have Chastity Belt got their debut LP Time To Go Home released today via Hardly Art but they have released a new video for one of their standout tracks ‘Joke’. Then, to top it all off, as if you hadn’t had enough, they have announced a UK tour with the dates below.
Chastity Belt are almost the complete article, ambivalent in their assertion as a ‘fresh new thing’ the band trudge across the social spectrum with effortless ease and turn their grunge sound in to something new and something worth playing to your friends.
It’s counter-productive to mention their feminist causes, but they approach them with such maturity it is remarkable to think they are a band in their infancy. You are going to see them grow though, grow in to nonchalant, suburban warrior-queens, the kind of warrior queens who throw popcorn at squares and slurp slushies in the sun.
They’ve got a gang and I wanna be in it.
