Chappell Roan reveals she’s in no rush to make another record: “There is no album”
Chappell Roan has issued a warning to fans with regards to the timeline of her second album, revealing that her “second project doesn’t exist yet.”
In her latest interview with Vogue, upon the release of her new single, ‘The Subway,’ Roan revealed that despite speculation on her sophomore record, “There is no album,” and “there is no collection of songs.”
Following on from the release of her hugely successful debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess in 2023, the ‘Good Luck, Babe’ singer admitted that she is in no rush to complete a second record.
She said: “It took me five years to write the first one, and it’s probably going to take at least five to write the next. I’m not the type of writer that can pump it out.”
However, Roan has still kept her fans satisfied in terms of new music, releasing singles such as ‘The Giver’ and her latest effort ‘The Subway’ throughout this year.
Regarding her slower pace at making music, the singer became candid when she revealed the effect that social media comments can have on her, saying: “I see some comments sometimes, like, ‘She’s everywhere except that damn studio’. Even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster.”
To this end, Roan added that ‘The Subway’ “took an annoying amount of time to get just right,” admitting, “I just wasn’t ready to put it out yet. It was just too painful. I was just too angry and scared — just about my life — to put it out.”
The singer is shortly set to come to the UK for a string of dates, headlining Reading and Leeds Festival on August 22nd and 23rd before performing two nights at the Royal Highland Showground in Edinburgh on August 26th and 27th.
