Chappell Roan announces special pop-up shows in the US
Chappell Roan has announced details of a new US tour which will take place later this year in three specially selected locations.
The run of dates, which is called Visions of Damsels and Other Dangerous Things, will begin in September with four headline dates at Forest Hills Stadium in New York. The tour will then move to Kansas for two shows at the Museum and Memorial Park in early October. Roan will conclude the run with a pair of concerts at the Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles on October 10th and 11th.
Roan announced the tour on Instagram, writing: “I am sooooo excited to announce my Pop-Up Shows in New York, Kansas City, and Los Angeles this fall. I love these three cities so much + wanted the chance to do something special before going away to write the next album.”
The ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer continued: “Because we’re only coming to three cities, I wanted to make sure 1. we’re keeping ticket prices as affordable as possible and 2. we’re trying to keep them away from scalpers.”
The Grammy-winner then explained that she has partnered with CashApp in a bid to make tickets more affordable for fans. Roan says that the company will “offer 15% cash back on tickets purchased using the Cash App Visa debit card”.
On her plans to tackle scalpers, Roan said: “We’re also using a ticketing process called Fair AXS to help get rid of bots and scalpers and make sure tickets end up in the hands of fans. From now until this Sunday, July 27th at 11:59 PM eastern time, you can register for a chance to buy tickets to these shows by going to the tour site. You can register for multiple shows if you want, but only one registration per show will count!”
Once the registration process has ended, Roan says that AXS will spend “the next week to try and remove bot or scalper emails and randomly select only real people who will be given access to purchase tickets”. Fans who have been selected will then receive an email between August 5th and August 7th with a link to buy tickets.
Roan also pledged to donate $1 from each ticket “to organizations dedicated to supporting and providing resources for trans youth in each city”.
She concluded her post by writing: “Thank you for understanding and I’m sorry it’s a lot of info!! I truly cannot wait to see you.”
This summer, Roan is headlining a number of festivals across Europe, including Reading and Leeds in England. She will also play two huge headline dates at the Royal Highland Showgrounds in Edinburgh in August.
