Cage The Elephant invite Iggy Pop to let loose on ‘Broken Boy’

One thing guaranteed to get us going for the weekend? Two of our favourite artists converging into one unstoppable force. Luckily, Cage The Elephant and Iggy Pop are helping us out and bringing us ‘Broken Boy’ our Track of the Day.

Cage The Elephant share a new version of their song ‘Broken Boy,’ with Iggy Pop providing his dulcet tones to turn this track up to eleven. The song sees the godfather of punk singing a verse and contributing backing vocals to the opening track from the band’s latest record Social Cues.

Frontman Matt Shultz spoke of his adoration of Iggy “He’s such a pioneer in so many fields: lyrically, culturally, poetically, visually, musically, and stylistically. Only a couple times in your life do you have the opportunity to share a moment with a visionary and beautiful human as he is”

Schultz continues “Grateful and blown away to have experienced and witnessed, not just his creativity, but also his kindness, humility, and humanness first hand. Such a testimony to the power of love.”

Iggy Pop said about his collaboration with the band: “Cage is a super high energy outfit, living the Rock dream, so for a couple of fun minutes I was one of the boys. Sounds pretty wicked to me.”

A match made in heaven as Cage provides the crash, bang and Iggy Pop (as so often he does) flies in with the wallop of all wallops. It’s a juggernaut of a track, cutting through the fog of the week and providing a clear proto-punk pathway for all to follow.
