Bruce Springsteen shares new ‘The Rising’ video during Democratic National Convention
Bruce Springsteen has backed Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden by soundtracking his latest political advert with his song ‘The Rising’ and the Boss even makes a cameo in the powerful video.
The clip debuted during the first night of the Democratic National Convention yesterday and features provocative images of health care workers as well as a look at how Americans have tried to cope during the pandemic.
Sharing the video on Twitter, Biden wrote: “We are the United States of America. There’s not a single thing we cannot do if we do it together.” Springsteen then quote tweeted Biden’s message with the line “come on up for #therising.”
The first evening of the convention was hosted by Eva Longoria and also featured speeches from Bernie Sanders as well as Michelle Obama. Bridges then performed his new single ‘Sweeter’ with the help of Terrace Martin before Rogers performed a rendition of ‘Back in My Body.’
The series of virtual events are set to run all week and other artists set to show their solidarity with Joe Biden this week include Billie Eilish, John Legend, The Chicks, Stephen Stills and more.
According to CBS, Stephanie Cutter, the 2020 Democratic National Convention program executive, said in a statement: “These artists are committed to engaging with, registering, and mobilizing voters to get us over the finish line in November.”
