British Independent Film Awards 2023: The complete winners list
The British Independent Film Awards 2023 proved to be an unforgettable night for director Andrew Haigh, as his movie All of Us Strangers scooped up seven awards.
Haigh’s film, which stars Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott as love interests, previously won three awards at the craft edition of the British Independent Film Awards last month. Now, the film has added to its tally of gongs by picking up wins in the ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Screenplay’ categories.
Meanwhile, Mia McKenna-Bruce was awarded ‘Best Lead Performance’ for her performance How to Have Sex. The motion picture, directed by Molly Manning Walker, won a total of three BIFAs in total, including ‘Best Casting’.
Additionally, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and George MacKay landed ‘Best Joint Lead Performance’ for Femme, Savannah Leaf took home ‘Best Debut Director’ for Earth Mama, and ‘Best Debut Screenwriter’ went to Nida Manzoor for Polite Society.
Furthermore, Rye Lane‘s Vivian Oparah was named the recipient of the ‘2023 Breakthrough Performance’ award for her performance in the highly-acclaimed rom-com, which also landed Kwes with the ‘Best Original Music’ prize.
